Hi,

I use a version control system to my homedir and I backup regularly the repository. I don't think it is too geeky, I just think it is a very nice way to keep organised without having too much work.

Moreover, when you have some important file you just add/commit it and you know that a sloppy mistake won't keep you in a bad position ;)
