Blogging and Career

After spending most of the day studying for my exam (which will be next Tuesday) I decided to spend some time googling (if such word exists) about career options, internships, and so on.

Afterall, my graduation is reaching the end, and latelly I've been spending a considerable amount of time thinking on what I really want to do about my working life.

Anyway, I found a >>blog from a person called >> Tim Bray. Tim works at >>Sun which, if you don't know, encourages their workers to blog.

One of the interesting things I found in this blog, was >>"Ten Reasons Why Blogging is Good For Your Career", which as you can imagine called my attention. Most of the reasons given are pretty obvious, but still made me think "It's complety true!".

During tonight's googling I found other interesting info, I've listed the most interesting ones bellow:

Too bad they ask for excellent implementation skills with C++. In my graduation we almost never worked with C++ but with Java. It seems Sun.pt doesn't support this kind of programs, at least I didn't find any information about that, but I emailed them… let's see if I get a reply. I may not like microsoft's monopolity nor their closed source policy, but I still have to say that their offers are pretty good. Interns gain access to health clubs, free bus pass to visit the city, free beverage and free T-shirts… No wonder they're software is so buggy this guys are probably most of the time getting massage and doing town trips while drinking their free beverage. :) (just kidding) I didn't found yahoo internship program listed on google (wonder why) but I checked their website and there it was. It's interesting how they discribe each internship area, and wow they have plenty of areas. It does not cover only IT area.

It would be nice to do an internship along the MsC I'm planning to do next year, but probably the best move is to do my MsC inside >>Fenix project, which I'm already a member due to my graduation Thesis.

But there's still plenty time, and right now I have to focus on my exam. Time will show me the best way!
