FenixEdu Project: After one year, another one follows
Well as you probably already know I was doing my final degree thesis at the FenixEdu Project, I've finished it in the end of July, as you could have read in the
Life Milestone: Degree Finished post, although, I haven't left their installations. That's because I'm now working there. Yes I got a now job… That's why I've been doing fewer updates on the blog, too much hours spent coding.
During this last year not only I have learned plenty of stuff due to this the project but also made new friends in the team. For all this, I liked the experience, and I'm with many expectations for the following year, specially because one of my major functions will be hacking snipsnap. Yes, that's true! Getting payed to hack snipsnap, that's excelent for me!
The main idea is to use Snipsnap has a documentation wiki for the Fenix project, we'll be working together with some
FEUP teachers who have a project called
Doc-it. From DOC-it's start page we can read:
doc-it! is a project aiming at developing an open and extensible documentation infrastructure based on a wiki engine and XML technology. It uses a multiple source method to ensure semantic consistency between diferent kinds of contents, namely, source code, models and documents ranging from Java and C++ to UML, graphic files and XML.The main purpose of this project is the development easy-to-use and easy-to-integrate supporting tools for agile software documentation and to evaluate them in real-world scenarios.
I'll be the fenix's team member working in the integration of Snipsnap in the Fenix project, and hopefully also cooperating with the DOC-it developers for a better support of DOC-it ideas in snipsnap.
Right now besides merging the snipsnap code with Fenix's CVS HEAD, I'll be also responsible to find a way of migrating the Moin Moin wiki content to the new SnipSnap wiki. After that we'll see what will follow, but one thing is sure, being related with SnipSnap it can only mean lots of fun!
